Comprehensive Functional & Integrative Health

At Brain Treatment Center NoVA, we believe that symptoms are often signals, not the root problem. Our Functional and Integrative Health Program is designed to look beyond diagnoses and explore the underlying factors that may be contributing to challenges with mood, energy, cognition, behavior, sleep, immune function, and overall health.

Using advanced laboratory testing, comprehensive health assessments, and personalized care planning, our team works to identify potential imbalances involving nutrition, metabolism, gut health, inflammation, detoxification pathways, hormones, methylation, immune function, and cellular health. We then develop individualized strategies designed to support the body’s natural ability to heal, regulate, and perform at its best.

Whether you are seeking answers for autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, anxiety, depression, PTSD, TBI, chronic fatigue, brain fog, digestive concerns, autoimmune issues, or simply want to optimize your health, our approach is tailored to your unique biology and goals.

Our services may include advanced laboratory testing, functional medicine consultations, nutritional guidance, targeted supplementation, lifestyle interventions, and collaboration with our broader team of providers offering neuromodulation, occupational therapy, counseling, and integrative psychiatry.

Our Treatment Approach

At Brain Treatment Center NoVA, we believe symptoms are often clues, not the root cause.

Many individuals and families come to us after years of searching for answers. They’ve seen multiple providers, tried various treatments, and often still feel like important pieces of the puzzle are missing.

Our Functional and Integrative Health Program is designed to take a deeper look.

Rather than focusing solely on a diagnosis, we evaluate the underlying factors that may be influencing health, behavior, mood, cognition, sleep, development, energy, and overall well-being. Our providers have advanced training in functional and integrative medicine and utilize evidence-based approaches informed by clinical research, patient outcomes, and real-world experience.

We don’t claim to have all the answers. What we do offer is a thoughtful, personalized process that seeks to understand the whole person and identify opportunities to support healing and improved function.

What We Evaluate

Depending on the individual, this may include assessment of:

  • Nutritional deficiencies

  • Methylation and folate pathway function

  • Gut health and digestion

  • Immune system function

  • Inflammation

  • Metabolic health

  • Hormonal balance

  • Environmental and lifestyle factors

  • Sleep quality and recovery

  • Nervous system regulation

Advanced laboratory testing is often used to help guide decision-making and create targeted, individualized recommendations.

Personalized Care Plans

No two patients are the same, and no two treatment plans should be either.

Based on clinical history, symptoms, goals, and laboratory findings, recommendations may include:

  • Targeted nutritional support

  • Supplement recommendations

  • Lifestyle modifications

  • Dietary interventions

  • Leucovorin therapy when clinically appropriate

  • Functional health monitoring

  • Collaboration with other healthcare providers

  • Integration with counseling, occupational therapy, neuromodulation, and other services offered at Brain Treatment Center NoVA

A Collaborative Model

Some patients need only a few targeted changes. Others benefit from a broader team approach.

Because complex conditions often require multiple perspectives, we maintain relationships with a trusted network of specialists, therapists, medical providers, and community partners. When additional expertise is needed, we work collaboratively to help ensure patients receive comprehensive care.

Conditions Commonly Seen

Our providers frequently work with individuals experiencing:

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

  • ADHD

  • PANS/PANDAS

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • PTSD

  • Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)

  • Chronic fatigue

  • Brain fog

  • Sleep disturbances

  • Behavioral concerns

  • Developmental challenges

  • Complex chronic health issues

Looking Beyond Symptoms. Searching for Root Causes.

Our goal is not simply to help patients manage symptoms. Our goal is to better understand the factors contributing to those symptoms and develop personalized strategies that support long-term health, resilience, and function.

Personalized. Evidence-Informed.

Root-Cause Focused.

The red light therapy benefits from wavelengths in our medical grade device take place at the cellular level and have been proven in many studies. Red and near-infrared light are energy for your cells. Exposing your body to this light enhances your cells to function as they are designed to. The human body is complex yet amazing! It is hard to predict the way your body will respond to Photobiomodulation and how quickly you will see results. Your cells will decide what healing needs to take place first. Common benefits include; increased mental acuity, better sleep, better performance & recovery, improved blood flow, and reductions in inflammation. Click here to find out more and for our pricing!

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is a non-invasive brain stimulation technique used to treat various neurological and psychiatric conditions. It works by delivering magnetic pulses to specific areas of the brain that are involved in mood regulation, cognitive function, and neural connectivity. These pulses activate or modulate brain cells in regions that may be underactive or overactive, helping to restore balance and improve mental health symptoms. TMS is most commonly used to treat depression.

QRI Cold Laser Therapy uses low-level laser light to target reflex points, aiming to improve neural connectivity and enhance overall brain and body balance. This approach is especially beneficial for individuals with developmental delays, neurological conditions, or injuries that affect motor coordination, emotional regulation, and sensory processing.

Functional medicine is a patient-centered approach to healthcare that focuses on identifying and addressing the root causes of illness, rather than just treating symptoms. It takes into account an individual’s genetics, environment, and lifestyle to develop personalized treatment plans that promote long-term health and wellness. This holistic model often integrates nutrition, exercise, stress management, and other natural therapies to support overall balance and healing.

For Military and Veterans the majority of our functional medicine program is covered by Tricare, and we bill them directly.
